Directions to the STEM Education Institute, Hasbrouck Lab, 666 North Pleasant Street, UMass Amherst

Some STEM Ed events will take place at other campus locations.
The Integrated Sciences Building is across the street at 661 North Pleasant Street.
The Lederle Graduate Research Towers are a block north at 740 North Pleasant Street.

To Campus from the South

Via I-91 North, Exit 19 in Northampton. From the exit ramp, turn right onto Route 9 and go approximately 4.5 miles to Route 116 North. Turn left at the lights and go 1 mile to the UMass exit. Turn right at the end of the ramp, and continue east. At the fourth light (some are blinkers), the road will curve to the right; turn left onto North Pleasant Street. Hasbrouck Lab is just past the campus pond on your left.

To Campus from the North

Via I-91 South, Exit 25 in Deerfield. At the end of the ramp turn left and follow the road to the intersection. Turn right onto Routes 5 & 10 South. Go 1 mile, then turn left onto Route 116 South. Follow for 8 miles to the UMass exit. Turn right at the end of the ramp, and continue east. . At the fourth light (some are blinkers), the road will curve to the right; turn left onto North Pleasant Street. Hasbrouck Lab is just past the campus pond on your left.

To Campus from the East via Route 2 (Best route from New Hampshire, Maine)

Route 2, Exit 16 (Belchertown/Amherst). Take Route 202 South for about 15 miles to a blinking yellow light near the top of a hill. (You will see signs "to Rt 9 and Rt 116"). Turn right on Amherst Road (which becomes Pelham Road after about 4 miles) for 7 miles to Amherst center (3rd traffic light). Turn right onto North Pleasant Street and follow signs to UMass. Hasbrouck Lab is just past the campus pond on your left.

To Campus from the East via I-90 (Massachusetts Turnpike)

Exit 8 (Palmer). Follow Route 32 South to Palmer; take Route 20 West to Route 181 North into Belchertown, and then Route 9 West to Amherst center. Turn right onto North Pleasant Street and follow signs to UMass. Hasbrouck Lab is just past the campus pond on your left.

To Campus from the West via I-90 (Massachusetts Turnpike)

Exit 4 (West Springfield). Follow I-91 North to exit 19. See directions at the top via I-91 North.

Via Air, Bus, Train

The closest airport is the Hartford-Springfield airport, about 50 miles south; this is a much better choice than Boston. If you rent a car, follow signs to I-91 north and follow directions above. Van service can be arranged by contacting Valley Transporter in advance at 800-872-8752; the cost is $49 one way. Peter Pan Bus Lines has frequent service directly to the campus from New York City and from Boston. Amtrak has one train per day (the Vermonter) from New York City directly to Amherst. There is more frequent train service to Springfield; Peter Pan provides connections to Amherst.

Parking on Campus

Parking in campus lots is restricted from 7 to 5 on workdays to people with the appropriate permits. Rules are rigorously enforced; they tow! Unless you have been given a parking permit or other instructions, park in the Campus Center garage. The Campus Center is a waffle styled concrete building just east of the garage. Hasbrouck is the brick building beyond the Campus Center.
